In the Raleigh area, ACE came on the scene when Howie and Brug Jung opened the first ACE Hardware in Wake County on Glenwood Avenue in the fall of 1976.  Graduates of the University of Illinois and Chicago people, they gave away their snow shovel, headed south to start the hardware business and never looked back!

Today their business is concentrated in the North Raleigh area. The North Ridge Ace Hardware store on Falls of Neuse Road became part of the family in 1992.  It has about 11000 sq ft of wonderful retail space filled with all kinds of hardware goodies.  The Falls River ACE Hardware location opened in 2005.  It offers about 12000 sq ft of retail space plus 5000 sq ft of garden center area filled with seasonal buys.

As your local Ace Hardware, their company is a member of the largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative in the industry. Ace Hardware began as a small chain of stores in 1924 and has grown to include more than 4,600 stores in 50 states and more than 70 countries. As part of a cooperative, every Ace Hardware store is independently owned.
